The adams // Toy house & Branding

A collaboration of my university’s graphic design and CAD departments, the Adams Children’s Toy House is a tribute to Federal, sometimes known as Adams style, architecture. For the package design, Maghaen Duprey and I worked to create cohesive branding and toy characters. The toy was eventually presented to first grade students at the Vartan Gregorian Elementary School for critique and play.

We were challenged with creating not only packaging and branding for the CAD students’ toy house, but for a toy company that would theoretically sell it. The assembly of the house was inspiration for the Kiddo Plays logo: I used interlocking planes to represent the constructive nature of the toy. The Adams logo, on the other hand, focuses on a playful and bold typeface that appeals to a younger audience. The color palette is purposefully gender neutral, and the same diamond shapes from the logo are incorporated through the package design in an effort to provide a complementary aesthetic and create movement.
